“The reason that we have cities is because A talks to B talks to C talks back to A, and we build on each other.”

Are you interested in the scaling laws of urban areas? What do you think about the population degrowth singularity? How can we utilise globalisation for the best with the diversity of thoughts?

Interview with Geoffrey West, theoretical physicist and Distinguished Professor at the Santa Fe Institute. We will talk about his vision for the future of cities, urban scaling laws, population growth and degrowth, science, the magic of the city, and many more.

Geoffrey West is a theoretical physicist and Distinguished Professor at the Santa Fe Institute, where he previously served as President. Formerly a Senior Fellow and founder of the high energy physics group at Los Alamos National Laboratory, he is renowned for his pioneering work on universal scaling laws in biology – from cells to ecosystems – and their extension to the structure, growth, and sustainability of cities and corporations. A Time magazine “100 Most Influential” honoree, he bridges physics, biology, and complex social systems.
