Alan Pears is one of Australia’s leading energy efficiency experts. He has worked in the sustainable energy and environment fields since the late 1970s, and been an expert adviser to federal, state and local governments across Australia, as well as business organisations, community groups and the private sector. His work spans all sectors of the economy, education and community action. He has been involved in low carbon urban design and green building projects, program and policy development, including building energy regulation, energy/climate rating of buildings, design of appliances and equipment. He is a Senior Industry Fellow at RMIT University and a Fellow at the University of Melbourne. Alan has received many awards including being made a Member of the Order of Australia in 2009.

Adam Dorr is the Director of Research at the independent think tank RethinkX. He is an environmental social scientist and technology theorist whose recent RethinkX publications have focused on the disruption of the global energy sector by new energy generation and storage technologies, as well as the implications of the energy, transportation, and food disruptions for climate change. Adam regularly presents on stage, radio, podcasts, and television. He completed his MS at the University of Michigan’s School for the Environment and Sustainability and his PhD at UCLA’s Luskin School of Public Affairs.

Born in Cairo, Egypt, and raised in the US, he worked at Microsoft on early versions of Outlook, Internet Explorer, and Bing, and founded Apex NanoTechnologies, a pioneer in molecular design software. An award-winning author of five books, including The Infinite Resource and the Nexus trilogy, Naam is a frequent speaker on clean energy’s price advantages and an angel investor in climate and mobility startups. He’s launching a climate-focused venture capital firm. Based in Seattle, he’s an adventurer who’s climbed mountains, dived with sharks, and cycled Vietnam’s coast.

Mark Nelson, Founder and Managing Director of Radiant Energy Group, is a clean energy consultant and holds an MPhil in Nuclear Engineering from Cambridge University and degrees in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. Mark’s diverse background includes living in St. Petersburg, Russia, researching at Los Alamos National Laboratory, and working in a Tajikistan pants factory. His research tracks electricity system emissions, focusing on France and Germany, and explores energy returns’ societal impacts. Featured in the New York Times and Wall Street Journal, Mark, based in Chicago, is a middle-distance runner, avid photographer, and relentless analyst of electricity data.
